Living in a damp or moldy home may be depressing, according to a new study on household mold and depression. Though researchers stopped short of blaming depression on moldy homes, they see reason for more research on the topic. The study included more than 5,800 adults living in nearly 3,000 homes. More than half of the participants - 57% - lived in homes that weren't moldy or damp. There was a solid association between depression and living in a damp, moldy home. The study doesn't prove that household mold causes depression but it did make clear the importance of housing as an indicator of health, including mental health.

The study will appear in the upcoming October edition of the American Journal of Public Health

Moss covered rocks are one thing, black moldy mailboxes are another. The stucco on my mailbox was moldy a week after it was installed. I hated the mold. It may be unhealthy, but it?s also just plain gross. So then, the search began. If it said it handled mold, I tried it. Felt like I tried everything, even bleach!
